बरह्मचारी च वेदान्यॊ अधीयीत दविजॊत्तमः सवाख्याये चाप्रमत्तॊ वै तं देवा बराह्मणं विदुः ॥ ३-१९७-३६ ॥
'The gods recognize him as a supreme Brahmana, endowed with generosity of spirit, who diligently observes the vow of Brahmacharya and is wholly dedicated to the study of the Vedas, ever vigilant in his learning.' ॥ 3-197-36 ॥
english translation
यद बराह्मणानां कुशलं तद एषां परिकीर्ययेत सत्यं तथा वयहरतां नानृते रमते मनः ॥ ३-१९७-३७ ॥
'Whatever contributes to the well-being of Brahmanas is always spoken of before them. Always delighting in truth, the hearts of such individuals never find satisfaction in falsehood.' ॥ 3-197-37 ॥
english translation
धनं तु बराह्मणस्याहुः सवाध्यायं दमम आर्जवम इन्द्रियाणां निग्रहं च शाश्वतं दविजसत्तम सत्यार्जवे धर्मम आहुः परं धर्मविदॊ जनाः ॥ ३-१९७-३८ ॥
'O best of the regenerate ones, it is said that the eternal duties of a Brahmana include the study of the Vedas, tranquility of the soul, simplicity in behavior, and the control of the senses. Those who are knowledgeable in virtue and morality proclaim that truth and honesty constitute the highest forms of righteousness.' ॥ 3-197-38 ॥

दुर्ज्ञेयः शाश्वतॊ धर्मः स तु सत्ये परतिष्ठितः शरुतिप्रमाणॊ धर्मः सयाद इति वृद्धानुशासनम ॥ ३-१९७-३९ ॥
'The eternal virtue is indeed difficult to grasp, but it is fundamentally grounded in truth. The ancients, who are learned in sacred texts, have declared that virtue is based on the authority of the Vedas.' ॥ 3-197-39 ॥
english translation
बहुधा दृश्यते धर्मः सूक्ष्म एव दविजॊत्तम भवान अपि च धर्मज्ञः सवाध्यायनिरतः शुचिः न तु तत्त्वेन भगवन धर्मान वेत्सीति मे मतिः ॥ ३-१९७-४० ॥
'However, O foremost among the regenerate, the nature of virtue as expounded in the scriptures seems varied and multifaceted, making it elusive and subtle to fully comprehend. You, O holy one, are well-versed in virtue, pure and steadfast in your Vedic studies, yet I surmise that even you may not fully grasp the essence of virtue as it truly is.' ॥ 3-197-40 ॥
