माता पितृभ्यां शुश्रूषुः सत्यवादी जितेन्द्रियः मिथिलायां वसन वयाधः स ते धर्मान परवक्ष्यति तत्र गच्छस्व भद्रं ते यथाकामं दविजॊत्तम ।। ३-१९७-४१ ।।

'Upon arriving in Mithila, inquire from a virtuous fowler there, if indeed, O regenerate one, you are not truly acquainted with the essence of the highest virtue. In Mithila resides a fowler, one who is truthful, devoted to the service of his parents, and whose senses are under complete control. He, too, shall discourse to you on virtue. Blessed be you, O best of regenerate ones. If it pleases you, go there.' ।। 3-197-41 ।।

english translation

mAtA pitRbhyAM zuzrUSuH satyavAdI jitendriyaH mithilAyAM vasana vayAdhaH sa te dharmAna paravakSyati tatra gacchasva bhadraM te yathAkAmaM davijòttama || 3-197-41 ||

अत्युक्तम अपि मे सर्वं कषन्तुम अर्हस्य अनिन्दित सत्रियॊ हय अवध्याः सर्वेषां ये धर्मविदुषॊ जनाः ।। ३-१९७-४२ ।।

'O faultless one, it is incumbent upon you to forgive me if what I have said is displeasing, for those who seek virtue are incapable of causing harm to women.' ।। 3-197-42 ।।

atyuktama api me sarvaM kaSantuma arhasya anindita satriyò haya avadhyAH sarveSAM ye dharmaviduSò janAH || 3-197-42 ||

[बरा] परीतॊ ऽसमि तव भद्रं ते गतः करॊधश च शॊभने उपालम्भस तवया हय उक्तॊ मम निःश्रेयसं परम सवस्ति ते ऽसतु गमिष्यामि साधयिष्यामि शॊभने ।। ३-१९७-४३ ।।

'At these words of the chaste woman, the Brahmana replied, saying, "I am gratified with thee. Blessed be thou; my anger hath subsided, O beautiful one! The reproofs uttered by thee will be of the highest advantage to me. Blessed be thou, I shall now go and accomplish what is so conducive, O handsome one, to my benefit!"' ।। 3-197-43 ।।

'Markandeya continued, "Dismissed by her, Kausika, that best of regenerate ones, left her house, and, reproaching himself, returned to his own abode."' ।। 3-197-44 ।।
