चयवन्तं जायमानं च गर्भस्थं चैव सर्वशः सवम आत्मानं परं चैव बुध्यन्ते जञानचक्षुषः कर्मभूमिम इमां पराप्य पुनर यान्ति सुरालयम ।। ३-१८१-३१ ।।

sanskrit

'Whether at birth, in maturity, or even while in the womb, they perceive with spiritual insight the connection between their soul and the supreme Spirit. Those great-souled Rishis, endowed with profound intuitive knowledge, traverse this realm of action and ultimately return to the celestial abode.' ।। 3-181-31 ।।

english translation

cayavantaM jAyamAnaM ca garbhasthaM caiva sarvazaH savama AtmAnaM paraM caiva budhyante jaJAnacakSuSaH karmabhUmima imAM parApya punara yAnti surAlayama || 3-181-31 ||

किं चिद दैवाद धठात किं चित किं चिद एव सवकर्मभिः पराप्नुवन्ति नरा राजन मा ते ऽसत्व अन्या विचारणा ।। ३-१८१-३२ ।।

sanskrit

'O King, men achieve their outcomes either through the grace of the gods, the decree of destiny, or their own actions. Do not entertain thoughts to the contrary.' ।। 3-181-32 ।।

english translation

kiM cida daivAda dhaThAta kiM cita kiM cida eva savakarmabhiH parApnuvanti narA rAjana mA te 'satva anyA vicAraNA || 3-181-32 ||

इमाम अत्रॊपमां चापि निबॊध वदतां वर मनुष्यलॊके यच छरेयॊ परं मन्ये युधिष्ठिर ।। ३-१८१-३३ ।।

sanskrit

'O Yudhishthira, I consider that to be the highest good which is recognized as such in this world. Some attain happiness in this life, but not in the next; others achieve it in the next, but not in this.' ।। 3-181-33 ।।

imAma atròpamAM cApi nibòdha vadatAM vara manuSyalòke yaca chareyò paraM manye yudhiSThira || 3-181-33 ||

'Those who possess abundant wealth and always enjoy themselves with well-adorned bodies - for them, O destroyer of great enemies, this world exists; but not for those who are always devoted to bodily pleasures alone.' ।। 3-181-35 ।।

dhanAni yeSAM vipulAni santi; nityaM ramante suvibhUSitAGgAH teSAma ayaM zatruvaraghna lòkò; nAsau sadA dehasukhe ratAnAma || 3-181-35 ||
