[वै] एतस्मिन्न एव काले तु सर्ववादित्र निस्वनः बभूव तुमुलः शब्दस तव अन्तरिक्षे दिवौकसाम ।। ३-१६२-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana said, "When the night had passed, Dhananjaya, along with his brothers, respectfully approached the just Yudhishthira. And, O Bharata, at that very moment, a tremendous sound arose from the heavens—mighty and resounding, the sound of celestial musical instruments, the rattling of chariot wheels, and the tolling of bells."' ।। 3-162-1 ।।

english translation

[vai] etasminna eva kAle tu sarvavAditra nisvanaH babhUva tumulaH zabdasa tava antarikSe divaukasAma || 3-162-1 ||

hk transliteration

रथनेमि सवनश चैव घण्टा शब्दश च भारत पृथग वयालमृगाणां च पक्षिणां चैव सर्वशः ।। ३-१६२-२ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana continued, "The sound of chariot wheels, the clanging of bells, and the cries of various beasts and birds from all directions, O Bharata, were heard, filling the air with a tumultuous noise."' ।। 3-162-2 ।।

english translation

rathanemi savanaza caiva ghaNTA zabdaza ca bhArata pRthaga vayAlamRgANAM ca pakSiNAM caiva sarvazaH || 3-162-2 ||

hk transliteration

तं समन्ताद अनुययुर गन्धर्वाप्सरसस तथा विमानैः सूर्यसंकाशैर देवराजम अरिंदमम ।। ३-१६२-३ ।।

sanskrit

'From all directions, hosts of Gandharvas and Apsaras, riding in chariots resplendent as the sun, began to follow the lord of the celestials, the vanquisher of foes.' ।। 3-162-3 ।।

english translation

taM samantAda anuyayura gandharvApsarasasa tathA vimAnaiH sUryasaMkAzaira devarAjama ariMdamama || 3-162-3 ||

hk transliteration

ततः स हरिभिर युक्तं जाम्बूनदपरिष्कृतम मेघनादिनम आरुह्य शरिया परमया जवलन ।। ३-१६२-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Ascending a chariot yoked with steeds, adorned with burnished gold and roaring like thunderclouds, the king of the celestials, Purandara, resplendent in beauty, came to the Parthas.' ।। 3-162-4 ।।

english translation

tataH sa haribhira yuktaM jAmbUnadapariSkRtama meghanAdinama Aruhya zariyA paramayA javalana || 3-162-4 ||

पार्थान अभ्याजगामाशु देवराजः पुरंदरः आगत्य च सहस्राक्षॊ रथाद अवरुरॊह वै ।। ३-१६२-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Purandara (Indra), the king of the gods, quickly approached the Parthas (sons of Pritha). And having arrived, the thousand-eyed one (Sahasraksha) indeed descended from his chariot.' ।। 3-162-5 ।।

english translation

pArthAna abhyAjagAmAzu devarAjaH puraMdaraH Agatya ca sahasrAkSò rathAda avaruròha vai || 3-162-5 ||
