[ब] यथेमे पर्वताः शश्वत तिष्ठन्ति सुरसत्तमाः अक्षयास तन्निमित्तं मे सुतस्यायुर भवेद इति ॥ ३-१३६-६ ॥
'O foremost among the gods, these mountains have existed for eternity, indestructible. Let them serve as the instrumental cause for my son's immortality.' ॥ 3-136-6 ॥
english translation
[ba] yatheme parvatAH zazvata tiSThanti surasattamAH akSayAsa tannimittaM me sutasyAyura bhaveda iti ॥ 3-136-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य पुत्रस तदा जज्ञे मेधावी करॊधनः सदा स तच छरुत्वाकरॊद दर्पम ऋषींश चैवावमन्यत ॥ ३-१३६-७ ॥
'Afterwards, a son was born to the sage, named Medhavi, who was of a fiery temper. Upon hearing of his birth, he became arrogant and began to insult the sages.' ॥ 3-136-7 ॥
english translation
tasya putrasa tadA jajJe medhAvI karòdhanaH sadA sa taca charutvAkaròda darpama RSIMza caivAvamanyata ॥ 3-136-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविकुर्वाणॊ मुनीनां तु चरमाणॊ महीम इमाम आससाद महावीर्यं धनुषाक्षं मनीषिणम ॥ ३-१३६-८ ॥
'He roamed the earth, causing trouble and harm to the munis. One day, encountering the learned sage Dhannushaksha (skilled archer), who was endowed with great energy, Medhavi treated him with disrespect.' ॥ 3-136-8 ॥

vikurvANò munInAM tu caramANò mahIma imAma AsasAda mahAvIryaM dhanuSAkSaM manISiNama ॥ 3-136-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्यापचक्रे मेधावी तं शशाप स वीर्यवान भव भस्मेति चॊक्तः स न भस्म समपद्यत ॥ ३-१३६-९ ॥
'Medhavi mistreated him, and in response, the sage cursed, "May you be reduced to ashes." However, Medhavi was not turned to ashes.' ॥ 3-136-9 ॥

tasyApacakre medhAvI taM zazApa sa vIryavAna bhava bhasmeti còktaH sa na bhasma samapadyata ॥ 3-136-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptधनुषाक्षस तु तं दृष्ट्वा मेधाविनम अनामयम निमित्तम अस्य महिषैर भेदयाम आस वीर्यवान ॥ ३-१३६-१० ॥
'Then, Dhannushaksha, understanding that the mountain was the instrumental cause of Medhavi's life, caused it to be shattered by buffaloes. With the destruction of this source, the boy perished.' ॥ 3-136-10 ॥
