ततॊ वर्षे दवादशे शवेतकेतुर; अष्टावक्रं पितुर अङ्के निसन्नम अपाकर्षद गृह्य पाणौ रुदन्तं; नायं तवाङ्कः पितुर इत्य उक्तवांश च ॥ ३-१३२-१६ ॥
'When Aṣṭāvakra reached his twelfth year, Śvetaketu one day saw him seated on their father’s lap. Taking him by the hand and causing him to cry, Śvetaketu said, "This is not your father’s lap."' ॥ 3-132-16 ॥

यत तेनॊक्तं दुर उक्तं तत तदानीं; हृदि सथितं तस्य सुदुःखम आसीत गृहं गत्वा मातरं रॊदमानः; पप्रच्छेदं कव नु तातॊ ममेति ॥ ३-१३२-१७ ॥
'These harsh words pierced Aṣṭāvakra’s heart, causing him deep pain. Returning home in tears, he asked his mother, "Where is my father?"' ॥ 3-132-17 ॥

ततः सुजाता परमार्तरूपा; शापाद भीता सर्वम एवाचचक्षे तद वै तत्त्वं सर्वम आज्ञाय मातुर; इत्य अब्रवीच छवेत केतुं स विप्रः ॥ ३-१३२-१८ ॥
'Thereupon, Sujātā, deeply troubled by his question and fearing a curse, revealed everything that had transpired. Upon hearing the full account, the young Brahmana approached his uncle, Śvetaketu, later that night and spoke to him.' ॥ 3-132-18 ॥

गच्छाव यज्ञं जनकस्य राज्ञॊ; बह्वाश्चर्यः शरूयते तस्य यज्ञः शरॊष्यावॊ ऽतर बराह्मणानां विवादम; अन्नं चाग्र्यं तत्र भॊक्ष्यावहे च विचक्षण तवं च भविष्यते नौ; शिवश च सौम्यश च हि बरह्मघॊषः ॥ ३-१३२-१९ ॥
'Let us attend the sacrifice of King Janaka, renowned for its many marvels. There, we can witness the debates of the learned Brahmanas and partake in the finest offerings. It will enrich our knowledge, for the recitation of the sacred Vedas is both delightful to hear and filled with blessings.' ॥ 3-132-19 ॥

तौ जग्मतुर मातुलभागिनेयौ; यज्ञं समृद्धं जनकस्य राज्ञः अष्टावक्रः पथि राज्ञा समेत्य; उत्सार्यमाणॊ वाक्यम इदं जगाद ॥ ३-१३२-२० ॥
'The uncle and nephew then proceeded to the magnificent sacrifice of King Janaka. After being turned away from the entrance, Aṣṭāvakra met the king and spoke to him these words.' ॥ 3-132-20 ॥
