अत्राद्याहॊ निवत्स्यामः कषपां भरतसत्तम दवारम एतद धि कौन्तेय कुरुक्षेत्रस्य भारत ॥ ३-१२९-११ ॥

'O most righteous scion of the Bharata lineage, today we shall spend the night at this very spot. O scion of Bharata's race! This is the threshold of the Kuru field. O king!' ॥ 3-129-11 ॥

atrAdyAhò nivatsyAmaH kaSapAM bharatasattama davArama etada dhi kaunteya kurukSetrasya bhArata ॥ 3-129-11 ॥

अत्रैव नाहुषॊ राजा राजन करतुभिर इष्टवान ययातिर बहुरत्नाढ्यैर यत्रेन्द्रॊ मुदम अभ्यगात ॥ ३-१२९-१२ ॥

'At this very spot, King Yayati, the son of Nahusha, performed sacred rites and offered a wealth of precious gems. Pleased with these sacrifices, Indra graced the ceremony.' ॥ 3-129-12 ॥

atraiva nAhuSò rAjA rAjana karatubhira iSTavAna yayAtira bahuratnADhyaira yatrendrò mudama abhyagAta ॥ 3-129-12 ॥

एतत पलक्षावतरणं यमुनातीर्थम उच्यते एतद वै नाकपृष्ठस्य दवारम आहुर मनीषिणः ॥ ३-१२९-१३ ॥

'This is a revered holy bathing place on the Yamuna River, known as Plakshavatarana, the descent of the banyan tree. Men of refined intellect call it the entrance to the heavenly realm.' ॥ 3-129-13 ॥

etata palakSAvataraNaM yamunAtIrthama ucyate etada vai nAkapRSThasya davArama Ahura manISiNaH ॥ 3-129-13 ॥

अत्र सारस्वतैर यज्ञैर ईजानाः परमर्षयः यूपॊलुखलिनस तात गच्छन्त्य अवभृथा पलवम ॥ ३-१२९-१४ ॥

'O respected sir! Here, after performing the Sarasvata sacrifices and using the sacrificial stake as a pestle, the highest order of saints completed the holy immersion prescribed at the conclusion of the rites.' ॥ 3-129-14 ॥

अत्रैव भरतॊ राजा मेध्यम अश्वम अवासृजत असकृत कृष्णसारङ्गं धर्मेणावाप्य मेदिनीम ॥ ३-१२९-१५ ॥

'O monarch! It was here that King Bharata performed his sacred sacrifices. To celebrate the horse-sacrifice, he released the horse intended for the ritual. By his righteousness, that monarch had gained sovereignty over the earth. The horse, which was let loose more than once, had a coat marked with black patches.' ॥ 3-129-15 ॥
