ऋते तवां विबुधांश चान्यान कथं वै नार्हतः सवम अश्विनाव अपि देवेन्द्र देवौ विद्धि पुरंदर ।। ३-१२४-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Why should you and the other gods be entitled to the Soma juice, and not they? O Lord of the Celestials, O Destroyer of hostile towns!' ।। 3-124-11 ।।

english translation

Rte tavAM vibudhAMza cAnyAna kathaM vai nArhataH savama azvinAva api devendra devau viddhi puraMdara || 3-124-11 ||

चिकित्सकौ कर्म करौ कामरूपसमन्वितौ लॊके चरन्तौ मर्त्यानां कथं सॊमम इहार्हतः ।। ३-१२४-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Be it known to you that the Ashvins also rank as gods." Upon hearing this, Indra replied, "These two practice the healing art; thus, they are mere servants. Taking forms at their will, they wander among mortals. How, then, can they justly claim the Soma juice?"' ।। 3-124-12 ।।

'Lomasa said, "When these very same words were repeated again and again by the Lord of the Celestials, the son of Bhrigu, disregarding Indra, took up the offering he had intended to make."' ।। 3-124-13 ।।

[la] etada eva yadA vAkyama AmreDayati vAsavaH anAdRtya tataH zakraM garahaM jagrAha bhArgavaH || 3-124-13 ||

'As he was about to take up an excellent portion of the Soma juice with the intent of offering it to the two Ashvins, Indra, the slayer of the demon Vala, observed his actions and spoke the following words:' ।। 3-124-14 ।।

garahISyantaM tu taM sòmama azvinòra uttamaM tadA samIkSya balabhida deva idaM vacanama abravIta || 3-124-14 ||

'If you take up the Soma with the intent of offering it to those celestials, I shall hurl at you my thunderbolt, dreadful in form, which surpasses all other weapons.' ।। 3-124-15 ।।
