तवं हय एव कॊपात पृथिवीम अपीमां; संवेष्टयेस तिष्ठतु शार्ङ्गधन्वा स धार्तराष्ट्रं जहि सानुबन्धं; वृत्रं यथा देवपतिर महेन्द्रः ।। ३-१२०-६ ।।

sanskrit

'You alone, O wielder of the horn-bow, if roused, could encircle the entire earth. I implore you to destroy Dhritarashtra’s son and his forces, as the great Indra, lord of the gods, vanquished Vritra.' ।। 3-120-6 ।।

tavaM haya eva kòpAta pRthivIma apImAM; saMveSTayesa tiSThatu zArGgadhanvA sa dhArtarASTraM jahi sAnubandhaM; vRtraM yathA devapatira mahendraH || 3-120-6 ||

'Arjuna, the son of Pritha, is my brother, my friend, my mentor, and is as dear to Krishna as his own self. This is why men wish for a worthy son, and why a teacher desires a devoted disciple who will never oppose him. Thus, the time has come for that noble task—supreme among all deeds and challenging to accomplish.' ।। 3-120-7 ।।

'I will counter Duryodhana's fierce assaults with my superior weapons. In the battlefield, I shall dominate all foes. In my fury, I will sever his head with my formidable arrows, which are akin to the venom of serpents and the intensity of fire.' ।। 3-120-8 ।।

tasyAstra varSANya ahama uttamAstraira; vihatya sarvANi raNe 'bhibhUya kAyAca chiraH sarpaviSAgnikalpaiH; zaròttamaira unmathitAsmi rAma || 3-120-8 ||

'With the sharp edge of my sword, I shall forcibly sever his head from his body in battle. Then, I will eliminate his followers, Duryodhana, and all of the Kuru lineage.' ।। 3-120-9 ।।

'O son of Rohini! Let Bhima’s followers look upon me with joy in their hearts as I wield my weapons in battle. I shall slay the finest warriors of the Kauravas, just as fire consumes great heaps of straw at the end of time.' ।। 3-120-10 ।।
