निःस्वाध्याय वषत्कारं नष्टयज्ञॊत्सव करियम जगद आसीन निरुत्साहं कालेय भयपीडितम ॥ ३-१००-११ ॥
'The universe, gripped by the terror of the Kalakeyas and bereft of Vedic studies, invocations, sacrificial festivals, and religious rites, fell into a state of utter desolation.' ॥ 3-100-11 ॥
english translation
एवं परक्षीयमाणाश च मानवा मनुजेश्वर आत्मत्राण परा भीताः पराद्रवन्त दिशॊ भयात ॥ ३-१००-१२ ॥
'And, O king, as people continued to perish in this manner, the survivors, gripped by terror, scattered in all directions, fleeing for their lives.' ॥ 3-100-12 ॥

के चिद गुहाः परविविशुर निर्झरांश चापरे शरिताः अपरे मरणॊद्विग्ना भयात परानान समुत्सृजन ॥ ३-१००-१३ ॥
'Some sought refuge in caverns, while others hid behind mountain streams and springs. Many, paralyzed by the fear of death, perished without resistance.' ॥ 3-100-13 ॥

के चिद अत्र महेष्वासाः शूराः परमदर्पिताः मार्गमाणाः परं यत्नं दानवानां परचक्रिरे ॥ ३-१००-१४ ॥
'Yet, among them, a few brave and mighty archers boldly ventured out, determined to track down the Danavas, despite the great peril.' ॥ 3-100-14 ॥

न चैतान अधिजग्मुस ते समुद्रं समुपाश्रितान शरमं जग्मुश च परमम आजग्मुः कषयम एव च ॥ ३-१००-१५ ॥
'Unable to locate the Asuras, who had taken refuge in the depths of the sea, these brave men returned home, satisfied with their search.' ॥ 3-100-15 ॥
