कृपानुकम्पा कारुण्यमानृशंस्यं च भारत । तथार्जवं क्षमा सत्यं कुरुष्वेतद्विशिष्यते॥५-९३-६॥
O Bhārata, cultivate compassion, sympathy, and benevolence; likewise integrity, forbearance, and truthfulness—this is what is especially commendable.
english translation
तस्मिन्नेवंविधे राजन्कुले महति तिष्ठति । त्वन्निमित्तं विशेषेण नेह युक्तमसांप्रतम्॥५-९३-७॥
When such a great lineage stands established in this manner, O King, it is not appropriate that, especially because of you, something improper should occur here now.
english translation
त्वं हि वारयिता श्रेष्ठः कुरूणां कुरुसत्तम । मिथ्या प्रचरतां तात बाह्येष्वाभ्यन्तरेषु च॥५-९३-८॥
For you are the foremost restrainer of the Kurus, O best of the Kurus. O father, you should check those who proceed in false ways, both in external affairs and within the household.
english translation
ते पुत्रास्तव कौरव्य दुर्योधनपुरोगमाः । धर्मार्थौ पृष्ठतः कृत्वा प्रचरन्ति नृशंसवत्॥५-९३-९॥
Those sons of yours, O Kauravya—led by Duryodhana—act with dharma and artha placed behind them, proceeding in a harsh and unscrupulous manner.
english translation
अशिष्टा गतमर्यादा लोभेन हृतचेतसः । स्वेषु बन्धुषु मुख्येषु तद्वेत्थ भरतर्षभ॥५-९३-१०॥
They are undisciplined, have overstepped every bound of propriety, and their judgment has been stolen away by greed—especially in matters concerning their foremost kinsmen. You know this well, bull among the Bharatas.
