आधिराज्यं महद्दीप्तं प्रथितं मधुसूदन । आहृतं येन वीर्येण कुरूणां सर्वराजसु॥५-८८-३१॥
O Madhusūdana, by whose valor the Kurus’ great, radiant, and renowned paramount sovereignty was secured among all kings.
english translation
यस्य बाहुबलं घोरं कौरवाः पर्युपासते । स सर्वरथिनां श्रेष्ठः पाण्डवः सत्यविक्रमः॥५-८८-३२॥
Whose formidable arm-strength the Kauravas themselves attend upon—he is the foremost of all chariot-warriors, that Pāṇḍava of true prowess.
english translation
योऽपाश्रयः पाण्डवानां देवानामिव वासवः । स ते भ्राता सखा चैव कथमद्य धनंजयः॥५-८८-३३॥
He who is the refuge of the Pāṇḍavas, as Vāsava (Indra) is of the gods—he is your brother and also your friend. How is that Dhanañjaya today?
english translation
दयावान्सर्वभूतेषु ह्रीनिषेधो महास्त्रवित् । मृदुश्च सुकुमारश्च धार्मिकश्च प्रियश्च मे॥५-८८-३४॥
Compassionate toward all beings, guided by modest restraint, skilled in great weapons; gentle and refined; righteous—and dear to me.
english translation
सहदेवो महेष्वासः शूरः समितिशोभनः । भ्रातॄणां कृष्ण शुश्रूषुर्धर्मार्थकुशलो युवा॥५-८८-३५॥
Sahadeva is a great archer, courageous, and distinguished in assembly. O Kṛṣṇa, he is devoted to serving his brothers, a young man skilled in dharma and artha.
