The world’s course proceeds from no source other than action, O Pāṇḍava. If one acts with such understanding, the fruit arises from the concurrence of both—effort and circumstance.

english translation

One who has thus settled one’s understanding and engages only in action is not distressed by non-attainment, nor does one indulge in elation upon attainment.

english translation

This is the limited point I wish to state here, O Bhīmasena: in an engagement with the Kurus, one should not presume an assured, one-sided success.

english translation

Do not keep the reins drawn too tight, for the reverse may likewise occur. Lest you fall into dejection or fatigue, I state this purpose to you.

english translation

Tomorrow, having reached Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s presence, O Pāṇḍava, I will strive to bring about pacification, exerting myself greatly for your sake.
