Ah, Pārtha—you perceive contrary portents, at the end of dreams and in waking as well; therefore you desire pacification.

english translation

Ah—you find nothing in yourself to commend, like one bereft of courage; you are overcome by confusion in dharma, and therefore your mind is distorted.

english translation

Your heart recoils and your mind sinks; you are seized by stiffness in the thighs—therefore you seek pacification.

english translation

Indeed, a mortal’s mind is impermanent, O Pārtha—unsteady and wavering—like a śālmalī seed-pod driven about by the force of the wind.

english translation

This distorted judgment of yours—like human speech among cattle—causes the minds of the sons of Pāṇḍu to sink, as if they were without a boat.
