As smoke from fire rises to the sky, bearing colors upon its luminous body, so was the banner fashioned by Bhauvana—without becoming a burden and without causing obstruction.

english translation

To that chariot were yoked white horses, swift as the wind—celestial steeds given by Citraratha. Their number, a hundred, is continually replenished; when one is lost, it is replaced, in accordance with the boon granted earlier.

english translation

Likewise, the king’s great ivory-hued horses, yoked to his chariot, shone with strength equal to his own. Bhīmasena’s mounts, like antelopes, coursed through the battle with speed comparable to the wind.

english translation

With dappled limbs and backs patterned like the tittiri bird, those horses—given by a brother and pleasing to Phalguna—were outstanding even among that heroic brother’s own steeds; joyfully harnessed, they bore Sahadeva.

english translation

Nakula, Mādrī’s son and a descendant of Ājamīḍha, was borne by tawny foremost horses bestowed by Mahendra. Powerful and swift, they carried the hero like Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra.
