In that situation, what is timely for us—submission, withdrawal, or to engage the adversaries even at the cost of life?

english translation

If it comes to armed engagement, our defeat would be certain; for all the kings are, indeed, aligned under Yudhiṣṭhira’s influence.

english translation

We are also estranged from our realm; our allies are angered with us; we are censured by all the kings and, in every way, by our own people as well.

english translation

In acts of submission there remains a lasting fault among kinsmen for many years. Yet it is my father—lord of men, the very “eye” of discernment—whom I grieve for: because of me he has fallen into sorrow and has come to unending distress.

english translation

For your sons have indeed carried out the confinement and obstruction of others. This was done for what was dear to me, and it has long been known to you, O best of men.
