दीर्घकालेन संसिक्तं विषमाशीविषो यथा । स मोक्ष्यति रणे तेजः पुत्रेषु मम संजय॥५-५०-४१॥
Like a venomous serpent long nourished, he will unleash his blazing power in battle against my sons, O Sañjaya.

महेन्द्र इव वज्रेण दानवान्देवसत्तमः । भीमसेनो गदापाणिः सूदयिष्यति मे सुतान्॥५-५०-४२॥
As Mahendra with the thunderbolt smites the Dānavas, so will Bhīmasena—mace in hand, foremost among men—decisively crush my sons.

अविषह्यमनावार्यं तीव्रवेगपराक्रमम् । पश्यामीवातिताम्राक्षमापतन्तं वृकोदरम्॥५-५०-४३॥
I seem to see Vṛkodara rushing forward—unendurable, irresistible, of fierce speed and might—his eyes blazing with deep redness.

अगदस्याप्यधनुषो विरथस्य विवर्मणः । बाहुभ्यां युध्यमानस्य कस्तिष्ठेदग्रतः पुमान्॥५-५०-४४॥
Even without a mace, without a bow, without a chariot, and without armor—when he fights with his arms alone, what man could stand before him?
english translation
भीष्मो द्रोणश्च विप्रोऽयं कृपः शारद्वतस्तथा । जानन्त्येते यथैवाहं वीर्यज्ञस्तस्य धीमतः॥५-५०-४५॥
Bhīṣma, Droṇa—this brāhmaṇa—and likewise Kṛpa Śāradvata: they know, just as I do, the prowess of that intelligent man.
