“And weapons shall never pierce your body”—thus Kṛṣṇa was thereby fulfilled. In such a Vāsudeva, immeasurable and of great might, the abundance of virtues is ever present.

Dhārtarāṣṭra (Duryodhana) imagines he can, by force, overcome that unendurable Viṣṇu of infinite valor. Whenever that ill-intentioned man schemes against him, he (Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa) nevertheless endures—out of regard for us.

Whoever thinks that, by entering into conflict with me and with Kṛṣṇa, it is possible to wrest from the Pāṇḍavas their rightful claim, will learn the truth only after going there—to the very engagement.

Having paid reverent homage to King Śāṃtanava (Bhīṣma), to Droṇa together with his son, and to Śāradvata (Kṛpa), unequalled in contest, I shall enter the stratagem-filled battle, seeking sovereignty.

I deem the weapon of Dharma to be firmly secured to the one who, walking in righteousness, engages the Pāṇḍavas. For the sons of Pāṇḍu were overcome by ruthless men through a deceitful gaming match, and thus endured twelve years.
