O King, one who lies upon the ground and subjects the entire body to austerity—disciplined by tapas—by this the wise pass beyond childishness; and at the final time they restrain death, meeting it with mastery rather than confusion.

english translation

O Kṣatriya, people conquer worlds that are finite, fashioned by action. But the knower attains Brahman itself through that (knowledge and discipline); there is no other path for that attainment.

english translation

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: ‘It appears as though white, as though red, or else black—like collyrium, or dark-brown. What form has that deathless, imperishable state which the wise brāhmaṇa perceives here?’

english translation

Sanatsujāta said: ‘It does not appear as white, nor as red, nor as black—nor as iron-like, nor sun-colored. It does not stand upon the earth, nor in the mid-space; nor does the ocean bear it as water.’

english translation

Its form is not seen among the stars, nor as residing in lightning, nor in clouds. Nor is it seen in the wind, nor among the deities; it is not seen in the moon, nor in the sun.
