Some call Yama “death”, while others say that death is something else. Brahmacarya is said to be deathless when the Self is not cast down. In the world of the ancestors, the Deity administers sovereignty—benevolent to the benevolent, adverse to the adverse.
english translation
From the mouths of human beings issue these: anger, heedlessness, and death in the form of delusion. Deluded and acting under its sway, they depart from here and fall again there, into repeated states of suffering.
english translation
Then the gods follow after that disturbance; thus death comes to be called “dying”. When karma ripens, those attached to the fruits of action follow along there; they do not cross beyond death.
english translation
One who, through vigilant contemplation, strikes down impulses as they arise—remaining wakeful and not negligent—becomes, as it were, a “death” that consumes death. In this manner, a knower eliminates desires.
english translation
A person who follows desires perishes in accordance with those desires. Casting desires aside, one shakes off whatever trace of rajas—agitating passion—still remains.
