Threads, though each is drawn out in length, are many and equal; by being numerous they endure many strains—this is an analogy employed by the wise.

english translation

O bull of the Bharatas, kinsmen who are divided only smoulder; but when united they blaze—like burning firebrands, O Dhṛtarāṣṭra.

english translation

Those who display ‘heroism’ against brāhmaṇas, women, kinsmen, and cattle fall, O Dhṛtarāṣṭra, like a ripe fruit dropping from its stalk.

english translation

Even a great tree standing alone—strong and well-rooted—can have its branches and trunk damaged by a forceful wind.
