Those who seek liberation move through this world without dependence on the merit of gifts, and without dependence on the merit of Vedic rites; freed from attachment and aversion, they live unbound.

english translation

For one who has studied well, who has fought well in one’s rightful duty, who has acted well, and whose discipline has been well-practised—happiness increases at the end, as its mature result.

english translation

Even upon well-spread beds, those divided within never gain sleep. O king, they find no satisfaction in pleasures, nor when praised by bards and panegyrists.

english translation

Those who are divided do not truly practice dharma, nor do the divided attain happiness here. The divided do not honor what is worthy of respect, and tranquility does not please them.

english translation

Wholesome counsel does not please them, nor do security and welfare take shape for them. For the divided, O lord of men, there is no final refuge other than ruin.
