राजा लक्षणसंपन्नस्त्रैलोक्यस्यापि यो भवेत् । शिष्यस्ते शासिता सोऽस्तु धृतराष्ट्र युधिष्ठिरः॥५-३४-८१॥
Yudhiṣṭhira is a king endowed with the requisite marks—even fit to govern the three worlds; let him be your disciple and the ruler (under your senior authority), O Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
english translation
अतीव सर्वान्पुत्रांस्ते भागधेयपुरस्कृतः । तेजसा प्रज्ञया चैव युक्तो धर्मार्थतत्त्ववित्॥५-३४-८२॥
He surpasses all your sons, for destiny has set him at the forefront; he is endowed with vigor and intelligence, and he understands the principles of dharma and artha.
english translation
आनृशंस्यादनुक्रोशाद्योऽसौ धर्मभृतां वरः । गौरवात्तव राजेन्द्र बहून्क्लेशांस्तितिक्षति॥५-३४-८३॥
That foremost bearer of dharma, out of non-cruelty and compassion, endures many hardships out of reverence for you, O king.
