“For the Pāṇḍava, non-cruelty is higher than anything else; for him, dharma is regarded as superior to the accumulation of wealth. Know this, O Bhārata: Pārtha does not accommodate one who is attached to pleasure yet devoid of dharma.”

english translation

A man, driven by another, acts like a wooden puppet fastened by strings. Seeing this constraint laid upon the Pāṇḍava, I judge that daiva—destiny—determines more strongly than human effort.

english translation

And seeing this fault in your conduct—its later consequence dreadful and disfiguring to your name—so long as a man desires what is untimely or excessive, so long does he gain only superficial praise.

english translation

But Ajātaśatru, casting off wrongdoing like a serpent shedding an old, powerless skin, shines by an unassailable way of conduct—the steadfast Yudhiṣṭhira, having relinquished all hostility toward you.

english translation

Understand, O king, the conduct of your own person and household: it has strayed from noble practice aligned with dharma and artha. Here you have incurred public reproach, O king, and there in the hereafter wrongdoing may cling to you as well.
