भ्राता भ्रातरमन्वेतु पिता पुत्रेण युज्यताम् । स्मयमानाः समायान्तु पाञ्चालाः कुरुभिः सह॥५-३१-२१॥
Let brother follow brother; let the father be joined with the son. Let the Pāñcālas come together with the Kurus—smiling—in peace and concord.
english translation
अक्षतान्कुरुपाञ्चालान्पश्येम इति कामये । सर्वे सुमनसस्तात शाम्याम भरतर्षभ॥५-३१-२२॥
I desire that we may see the Kurus and the Pāñcālas unharmed. Let all of us be of good will, dear one; O bull among the Bharatas, let us be appeased and come to peace.
english translation
अलमेव शमायास्मि तथा युद्धाय संजय । धर्मार्थयोरलं चाहं मृदवे दारुणाय च॥५-३१-२३॥
Enough—I am capable of peace, and likewise of war, O Sanjaya. I am equal to dharma and to artha; I am fit for gentleness as well as for severity.
