O sons of Bhīmasena, an ignoble act does not befit you, for your moral strength is of that kind. Indeed, any fault that might arise in you would stand out—like a spot of añjana on a white garment.
english translation
Where complete ruin is foreseen, where the rise of sin and a hellish state grounded in non-being are evident—who, knowing this, would ever undertake such an act, in which defeat is equal to victory?
english translation
Blessed indeed are those by whom the duty owed to kin has been fulfilled—those sons, friends, and relatives of yours who would relinquish a compromised life; then the Kurus’ future course would become fixed, decisively determined.
english translation
If you, O Pārthas, were to govern the Kurus by subduing and restraining all adversaries, that life of yours would be equivalent to death—if you live through the killing of kinsmen; it is not ethically commendable, nor in accord with dharma.
english translation
For who could prevail against you together with Keśava—protected by Cekitāna and by the arms of Pārṣata (Dhṛṣṭadyumna), and accompanied by Sātyaki—even if he had obtained the gods as allies, with Indra and their counselors?
