ततो दशार्णाधिपतेः प्रेष्याः सर्वं न्यवेदयन् । विप्रलम्भं यथावृत्तं स च चुक्रोध पार्थिवः॥५-१९०-१६॥
Then the messengers of the Daśārṇa ruler reported everything as it had occurred, describing the perceived deception; and that king became angered.
english translation
शिखण्ड्यपि महाराज पुंवद्राजकुले तदा । विजहार मुदा युक्तः स्त्रीत्वं नैवातिरोचयन्॥५-१९०-१७॥
O great king, Śikhaṇḍī too at that time dwelt within the royal household as though male, enjoying life with steady composure, without showing any marked inclination toward a female social role.

ततः कतिपयाहस्य तच्छ्रुत्वा भरतर्षभ । हिरण्यवर्मा राजेन्द्र रोषादार्तिं जगाम ह॥५-१९०-१८॥
Then, after some days, having heard of that matter, King Hiraṇyavarmā, O bull among the Bharatas, was distressed because of anger.

ततो दाशार्णको राजा तीव्रकोपसमन्वितः । दूतं प्रस्थापयामास द्रुपदस्य निवेशने॥५-१९०-१९॥
Thereupon the king of Daśārṇa, seized by intense anger, dispatched an envoy to Drupada’s residence.

ततो द्रुपदमासाद्य दूतः काञ्चनवर्मणः । एक एकान्तमुत्सार्य रहो वचनमब्रवीत्॥५-१९०-२०॥
Then the envoy of Kāñcanavarman, having approached Drupada, drew him aside in private and spoke confidentially.
