Those fierce spears too, O lord of men, I checked with a shield and brought down in the engagement with a sword. Then, in the encounter with Jāmadagnya, I showered divine arrows upon his divine horses along with their charioteers.

english translation

Seeing those golden, variegated spears—cut down—resembling released serpents, the great-souled one, the subduer of the Haihaya lord, overwhelmed by anger, manifested a divine weapon.

english translation

Then, in dense formations, blazing arrows converged—fierce like swarms of moths drawn to flame—and they struck heavily my body, my horses, my charioteer, and my chariot as well.

english translation

My chariot was completely covered with arrows on every side, as were my horses and my charioteer, O King. The yoke and the reins were likewise struck; the wheels too—and then the axle, cut by arrows, broke.

english translation

When that shower of arrows had passed, I countered that formidable opponent with a dense volley of arrows. Wounded by missiles, that Brahmin-sage released from his body an unceasing flow of much blood.
