Bhīṣma said: When I met Rāma once more, the battle on the following day became exceedingly fierce and tumultuous, O best of the Bharatas.

english translation

Then the radiant wielder of divine weapons employed, again and again, many celestial astras, day after day—the powerful one, steadfast in dharma.

english translation

O Bhārata, in that tumultuous battle I neutralized those weapons with counter-weapons, resolved to relinquish even life—so hard to abandon.

english translation

When his weapons were repeatedly neutralized by weapons, the Bhārgava—of great radiance—did not grow angry in that engagement, though he had staked his life.

english translation

Then the great-souled Jāmadagnya, checked by counter-weapons, launched a spear of formidable appearance—like a blazing meteor released by Time, its tip aflame, its radiance seeming to envelop the worlds.
