ततोऽहमस्त्रं वायव्यं जामदग्न्ये प्रयुक्तवान् । प्रत्याजघ्ने च तद्रामो गुह्यकास्त्रेण भारत॥५-१८१-११॥
Then I deployed the Vāyavya weapon against Jāmadagnya; and that Rāma countered it with the Guhyaka weapon, O Bhārata.

ततोऽस्त्रमहमाग्नेयमनुमन्त्र्य प्रयुक्तवान् । वारुणेनैव रामस्तद्वारयामास मे विभुः॥५-१८१-१२॥
Then, after ritually invoking it with mantras, I deployed the Āgneya weapon; Rāma, the powerful one, checked it with the Vāruṇa weapon.

एवमस्त्राणि दिव्यानि रामस्याहमवारयम् । रामश्च मम तेजस्वी दिव्यास्त्रविदरिंदमः॥५-१८१-१३॥
Thus I checked Rāma’s celestial weapons; and Rāma—radiant, a knower of divine weapons, a subduer of foes—checked mine.

ततो मां सव्यतो राजन्रामः कुर्वन्द्विजोत्तमः । उरस्यविध्यत्संक्रुद्धो जामदग्न्यो महाबलः॥५-१८१-१४॥
Then, O king, Rāma Jāmadagnya—the foremost of Brahmins, of great strength—angrily struck me on the left side, piercing my chest.

ततोऽहं भरतश्रेष्ठ संन्यषीदं रथोत्तमे । अथ मां कश्मलाविष्टं सूतस्तूर्णमपावहत् । गोरुतं भरतश्रेष्ठ रामबाणप्रपीडितम्॥५-१८१-१५॥
Then, O best of the Bharatas, I collapsed upon the excellent chariot. Seeing me overcome by disorientation, the charioteer quickly carried me away—like a bull in distress—pressed by Rāma’s arrow.
