विभ्रंशिता त्वया हीयं धर्मावाप्तेः परावरात् । परामृष्टां त्वया हीमां को हि गन्तुमिहार्हति॥५-१७८-६॥
‘By you, this woman has been displaced from the attainment of dharma in its higher and lower forms; having been claimed and touched by you, who indeed would be fit to accept her here?’
english translation
प्रत्याख्याता हि शाल्वेन त्वया नीतेति भारत । तस्मादिमां मन्नियोगात्प्रतिगृह्णीष्व भारत॥५-१७८-७॥
For Śālva has rejected her, saying, “She was taken away by you, O Bhārata.” Therefore, at my command, accept her, O Bhārata.
english translation
स्वधर्मं पुरुषव्याघ्र राजपुत्री लभत्वियम् । न युक्तमवमानोऽयं कर्तुं राज्ञा त्वयानघ॥५-१७८-८॥
Let this princess attain her rightful dharma and station, O tiger among men. It is not fitting for you, of kingly stature, O blameless one, to subject her to such humiliation.
english translation
ततस्तं नातिमनसं समुदीक्ष्याहमब्रुवम् । नाहमेनां पुनर्दद्यां भ्रात्रे ब्रह्मन्कथंचन॥५-१७८-९॥
Then, seeing him not well-disposed, I said: “O Brahmin, I will not give her again to my brother under any circumstances.”
english translation
शाल्वस्याहमिति प्राह पुरा मामिह भार्गव । मया चैवाभ्यनुज्ञाता गता सौभपुरं प्रति॥५-१७८-१०॥
Earlier, O Bhārgava, she told me here, “I belong to Śālva.” And with my permission she went toward Saubhapura.
