When they encounter me, whose arrows do not fail, the Pāṇḍavas together with the Pāñcālas will scatter to the ten directions—like bulls confronted by a tiger.

english translation

Where is the vigorous press of battle, where the counsel well spoken—and where is Bhīṣma, advanced in years, his resolve diminished, bewildered by time?

english translation

For he is ever in rivalry with the whole world, and he deems no other man of consequence—his discernment proving futile.

english translation

Scripture indeed sets forth that elders should be heeded; yet those exceedingly aged are again regarded as childlike in judgment.

english translation

I alone will strike down the Pāṇḍavas—of this there is no doubt. Yet in a battle well fought, O tiger among kings, the renown will go to Bhīṣma.
