Having heard Dharmarāja’s statement—grounded in dharma and practical policy—Kṛṣṇa, whose voice resounded like a cloud and kettle-drum, spoke in reply.

english translation

I have spoken words that are beneficial and aligned with dharma and prudent policy; yet they do not take hold in that Kaurava, whose understanding is oriented toward deception.

english translation

That man of perverted judgment listens neither to Bhīṣma nor to Vidura, nor even to anything I say; he casts it all aside.

english translation

He desires neither dharma nor enduring renown; relying on Karṇa, that ill-intentioned man imagines everything already secured in his favor.

english translation

Suyodhana even ordered my detention; yet that ill-intentioned transgressor of restraint did not obtain the outcome he sought.
