पितेवास्मान्समाधत्ते यः सदा पार्थिवर्षभः । श्वशुरो द्रुपदोऽस्माकं सेनामग्रे प्रकर्षतु॥५-१४९-१६॥
Like a father he continually supports and steadies us—that bull among kings. Let our father-in-law Drupada press forward at the head of the army.

स द्रोणभीष्मावायान्तौ सहेदिति मतिर्मम । स हि दिव्यास्त्रविद्राजा सखा चाङ्गिरसो नृपः॥५-१४९-१७॥
My judgment is that he could withstand Droṇa and Bhīṣma when they advance; for that king is a knower of divine weapons, and a friend of the Āṅgirasa lineage.

This celestial person arose through the power of austerity and through the satisfaction of the sages—flame-hued and of great strength.

धनुष्मान्कवची खड्गी रथमारुह्य दंशितः । दिव्यैर्हयवरैर्युक्तमग्निकुण्डात्समुत्थितः॥५-१४९-२०॥
Armed with a bow, armored, bearing a sword, and mounted upon a chariot—fully equipped—he arose from a fire-pit, the chariot yoked with excellent celestial horses.
