Cursed be that material gain for whose sake this great destruction—through the killing of kinsmen—will occur. In this engagement, the defeat of these well-wishers is indeed impending.

english translation

If the Pāṇḍavas, the Cedis and Pāñcālas, and the Yādavas assemble and then contend with the Bhāratas, what sorrow could be greater than this?

english translation

I see a certain fault in war, and likewise the possibility of defeat in war. For one without resources, death is preferable—there is no true victory when kinsmen are destroyed.

english translation

Grandfather Bhīṣma, the Śāṃtanava, and the preceptor Droṇa, lord of warriors, and also Karṇa—acting for the sake of the Dhārtarāṣṭras—heighten my apprehension.

english translation

The preceptor Droṇa would never willingly engage against his own students. And how could the grandsire fail to feel affection for the Pāṇḍavas?
