गान्धार्या सह रोदन्त्यः श्वगृध्रकुरराकुले । स यज्ञेऽस्मिन्नवभृथो भविष्यति जनार्दन॥५-१३९-५१॥
Weeping together with Gāndhārī, amid a place crowded with dogs, vultures, and ospreys, that will be the avabhṛtha—the concluding bath—of this sacrifice, O Janārdana.

विद्यावृद्धा वयोवृद्धाः क्षत्रियाः क्षत्रियर्षभ । वृथामृत्युं न कुर्वीरंस्त्वत्कृते मधुसूदन॥५-१३९-५२॥
Kṣatriyas advanced in learning and advanced in age, O bull among kṣatriyas—let them not incur futile death on your account, O Madhusūdana.

शस्त्रेण निधनं गच्छेत्समृद्धं क्षत्रमण्डलम् । कुरुक्षेत्रे पुण्यतमे त्रैलोक्यस्यापि केशव॥५-१३९-५३॥
May the prosperous circle of kṣatriyas meet death by weapons on Kurukṣetra, the most sacred field even among the three worlds, O Keśava.

तदत्र पुण्डरीकाक्ष विधत्स्व यदभीप्सितम् । यथा कार्त्स्न्येन वार्ष्णेय क्षत्रं स्वर्गमवाप्नुयात्॥५-१३९-५४॥
Therefore here, O lotus-eyed one, arrange what you intend—so that, entirely, O Vārṣṇeya, the kṣatriya order may attain heaven.

यावत्स्थास्यन्ति गिरयः सरितश्च जनार्दन । तावत्कीर्तिभवः शब्दः शाश्वतोऽयं भविष्यति॥५-१३९-५५॥
As long as mountains and rivers endure, O Janārdana, so long will this report—born of fame—remain everlasting.
