Do you perceive any such practical means? Tell me rightly, O one of mature understanding, as I ask you. I shall carry out everything exactly, in accordance with your proper instruction.

english translation

The mother said: “My son, do not disparage yourself because of earlier lack of prosperity. For resources and successes arise even when they were formerly absent, and some that have arisen also perish.”

english translation

And aims should not be undertaken merely out of indignation, especially by the very inexperienced. For in the fruit of every action, dear son, impermanence is ever present.

english translation

Knowing that things are impermanent, people sometimes succeed and sometimes do not. But those who do not act at all never succeed at any time.

english translation

With mere passivity and lack of striving, the fruit of actions is non-attainment. But with active endeavor there is a doubled possibility: the result may come to be—or it may not.
