english translation

All your adversaries are tolerable—if you do not wish to live. But if you take up such a course of conduct, stamped with unmanliness, you forsake the standard expected of you.

With spirit worn and resolve broken, abandon this blameworthy way of living. Even by the decisive bringing down of a single adversary, the valorous attain renown.

english translation

Indra, by the slaying of Vṛtra alone, became “Mahendra”; he gained the celestial station called Māhendra and became the sovereign of the worlds.

english translation

Whether by making one’s name resound in the engagement and challenging armed adversaries, or by scattering the vanguard of an army, or by bringing down an eminent champion—by such deeds martial renown is established.
