Why do you remain thus, like one dead—like a man struck by a thunderbolt? Rise, O faint-hearted one; do not lie on in defeat.
english translation
Do not go to ruin as a wretched man; become renowned through your own deeds. Do not remain mediocre; do not fall into the lowest state. Do not be negligent—stand firm with energy.
english translation
Blaze forth, even if only for a moment, like a tinduka-brand. Do not be like a chaff-fire—smoky and without flame—merely clinging to life. A brief, luminous burning is preferable to a long, smoke-filled existence.
english translation
Let not the wife of a king become harsh or pliant in another’s house. Having performed what is properly human—acting up to the highest standard—one becomes free of debt to dharma and does not despise oneself.
english translation
Whether they fail to obtain or succeed in obtaining, the wise do not grieve. They undertake what must follow without delay; they do not treat life itself as a means for mere accumulation.
