As Bhīṣma, son of Śāntanu, and Droṇa too—the great chariot-warrior—have declared, dear one, it is true: Kṛṣṇa and the Pāṇḍavas are unconquerable.

english translation

Seek refuge with Kṛṣṇa, the mighty-armed one whose deeds are untroubled by malice; for when Keśava is pleased, he becomes a source of well-being for both sides.

english translation

A man who does not abide by the guidance of well-wishing friends—who seek his true good—and of wise, learned persons becomes one who brings satisfaction to his adversaries.

english translation

There is no welfare, dear child, in entering into war, even with strategy; where then would dharma and gain abide, and how could happiness arise? Victory, moreover, is not constant—do not set your mind upon war.

english translation

For Bhīṣma, O greatly wise one, and your father Bāhlīka as well, fearing a rupture, granted a share to the sons of Pāṇḍu, O subduer of foes.
