Duryodhana, understand these words of mine, O best of the Kurus. They are especially fitting for you, O Bhārata, together with their consequences and connected implications.

english translation

O greatly intelligent one, born in a noble lineage, you ought to do what is proper. Endowed with learning and good conduct, and furnished with all virtues, you are capable of it.

english translation

Those of ignoble lineage, of corrupt disposition, harsh in conduct, and without shame—such persons would act in the manner you, dear one, are contemplating.

english translation

In this world, the conduct of the virtuous is seen to accord with dharma and artha; but among the non-virtuous, the opposite is observed, O bull among the Bharatas.

english translation

Yet this inverted pattern of conduct is repeatedly seen in you. Here, adharma follows as a dreadful consequence—great and life-destroying.
