“I accept your maiden for the result of a single son. And let the horses, having reached my hermitage, remain entirely in my possession.”

english translation

Thereafter, Viśvāmitra of great splendor, being in union with her, caused a son to be born—Aṣṭaka, the son of Mādhavī.

english translation

As soon as that son was born, the illustrious Viśvāmitra duly established him with resources and with dharmic obligations, and he also provided him with horses.

english translation

Then Aṣṭaka departed for his city, splendid like Somapura. Having handed over the maiden to his disciple, Kauśika (Viśvāmitra) likewise went to the forest.

english translation

Gālava too, having departed together with Suparṇa after securing the dakṣiṇā (ritual honorarium), addressed the maiden with a mind resolved and satisfied.
