Proceed slowly and carefully, recalling the gravity of brahma-hatyā. The sun is not visible, dear one—nor the directions, nor even the sky, O bird.

english translation

I see only darkness; I do not discern your body. I see your two eyes, O egg-born one, like a pair of gemstones.

english translation

I do not see your body—nor, indeed, my own. Yet at every step I see fire arising from the water.

english translation

Having suddenly cooled me, my eyes become calm again. Turn back from this—much time is passing as you proceed, O son of Vinatā.

english translation

I have no purpose in continuing this journey, O eater of serpents. Turn back, O swift one; I cannot endure your speed.
