For one without wealth, whose purpose is unfulfilled, who has been deprived of various gains, and who bears a debt—how can there be any ease without effective effort?

english translation

Having used the wealth of well-wishers and received the desired favor, for one who is unable to repay, death is preferable to continued living.

english translation

For one who, having promised, “I will do it,” does not perform that duty, the merit of sacrifices and public benefactions perishes, as though burned by false speech.

english translation

Falsehood has no true dignity; falsehood yields no stable lineage; falsehood gains no legitimate authority—how, then, could there be an auspicious end for it?

english translation

How could the ungrateful attain reputation, standing, or well-being? The ungrateful is inherently untrustworthy; for ingratitude there is no real expiation.
