“So be it,” the seers said to him, O bull of the Bharatas. When this agreement had thus been concluded, Vṛtra became satisfied.

english translation

Śakra, filled with indignation, remained constantly vigilant, reflecting on methods connected with Vṛtra’s defeat. Seeking a vulnerability and remaining anxious, the slayer of the powerful Vṛtra stayed continually alert.

english translation

Once, at the edge of the ocean, he saw that great Asura, at the time of twilight—an interval both serene and formidable.

english translation

Then the Lord, reflecting on the boon granted to that great being, considered: “This is fierce twilight—neither night nor day. And this Vṛtra must necessarily be brought down; he is my adversary who deprives me of all.”

english translation

“If I do not bring down Vṛtra today—having outmaneuvered that great Asura, of immense strength and vast form—there will be no good for me.”
