ततःपरिहितागाढंराक्षसाभीमविक्रमाः । मृदङ्गपणवान् भेरीश्शङ्खकुम्भगणांस्तथा ॥ ६-६०-४१
The Rakshasas of terrible valour resorted to abandoned drums and tom toms that way and pails of clay. [6-60-41]

दशराक्षससाहस्रंयुगपत्पर्यवारयन् । नीलाञ्जनचयाकारंतेतुतंप्रत्यबोधयन् ॥ ६-६०-४२
Ten thousand Rakshasas surrounded him all at once like a mass of antimony to rouse him - [6-60-42]

अभिघ्नन्तोनदन्तश्चनैवसंविविदेतुसः । यदाचैनंनशेकुस्तेप्रतिबोधयितुंतदा ॥ ६-६०-४३
- striking him and even made a loud noise. But he never responded. When they were unable to rouse him by these means - [6-60-43]

ततोगुरुतरंयत्नंदारुणंसमुपाक्रमन् । आश्वानुष्ट्रान् खरन्नागान् जघ्नुर्दण्डकशाङ्कुशैः ॥ ६-६०-४४
- then they made a difficult and dreadful effort approaching him. They beat horses, camels, donkeys, and elephants with sticks whips and thongs - [6-60-44]

भेरीशङ्खमृदङ्गांश्चसर्वप्राणैरवादयन् । निजघ्नुश्चास्यगात्राणिमहाकाष्ठकङ्करैः ॥ ६-६०-४५
- so that they trample upon him and blasted kettle-drums, couches and drums. They crushed his limbs under piles of heavy logs and pillars - [6-60-45]
