रक्षसानांचसर्वेषामात्मनश्चवधेनहि | निहत्यरावणंसङ् ख्येसर्वथानिशितैश्शरैः | प्रतिनेष्यतिरामस्त्वामयोध्यामसितेक्षणे: || ६-३४-२६

- through the carnage of all the demons and of himself. Rama will kill Ravana in war with his sharp arrows and take you back to Ayodhya, O darkeyed lady!" [6-34-26]

On hearing the sounds of Vanara troops, the Rakshasas present in Lanka became dull, overcome by depression, thinking that because of Ravana's mistakes they could not see any good prospects for them. [6-34-28]
