[लॊमष] ततॊ जगाम कौरव्य सॊ ऽगस्त्यॊ भिक्षितुं वसु शरुतर्वाणं महीपालं यं वेदाभ्यधिकं नृपैः ।। ३-९६-१ ।।

'Lomasa continued, 'Then, O son of the Kuru race, Agastya approached King Shrutarva, who was revered by other kings and known for his immense wealth, to seek his aid.'' ।। 3-96-1 ।।

[lòmaSa] tatò jagAma kauravya sò 'gastyò bhikSituM vasu zarutarvANaM mahIpAlaM yaM vedAbhyadhikaM nRpaiH || 3-96-1 ||

स विदित्वा तु नृपतिः कुम्भयॊनिम उपागमत विषयान्ते सहामात्यः परत्यगृह्णात सुसत कृतम ।। ३-९६-२ ।।

'Upon learning of the arrival of the pot-born sage at the borders of his kingdom, the king, accompanied by his ministers, went out to greet the revered Rishi with utmost respect.' ।। 3-96-2 ।।

sa viditvA tu nRpatiH kumbhayònima upAgamata viSayAnte sahAmAtyaH paratyagRhNAta susata kRtama || 3-96-2 ||

तस्मै चार्घ्यं यथान्यायम आनीय पृथिवीपतिः पराञ्जलिः परयतॊ भूत्वा पप्रच्छागमने ऽरथि ताम ।। ३-९६-३ ।।

'The king, first offering the Arghya in accordance with custom, respectfully and with folded hands, humbly inquired about the purpose of the Rishi's visit.' ।। 3-96-3 ।।

tasmai cArghyaM yathAnyAyama AnIya pRthivIpatiH parAJjaliH parayatò bhUtvA papracchAgamane 'rathi tAma || 3-96-3 ||

[अ] वित्तार्थिनम अनुप्राप्तं विद्धि मां पृथिवीपते यथाशक्त्य अविहिंस्यान्यान संविभागं परयच्छ मे ।। ३-९६-४ ।।

'Agastya replied, 'O lord of the earth, know that I have come to you seeking wealth. Grant me a portion of your riches according to your ability, without causing harm to others.'' ।। 3-96-4 ।।

'Lomasa continued, 'The king then explained to the Rishi the balance between his income and expenditure, and said, 'O learned one, take from my wealth whatever you deem appropriate.'' ।। 3-96-5 ।।
