तत आयव्ययौ दृष्ट्वा समौ सममतिर दविजः सर्वथा पराणिनां पीडाम उपादानाद अमन्यत ॥ ३-९६-६ ॥

'Observing the balance between the king's income and expenditure, the Rishi, who viewed all matters with impartiality, realized that accepting anything in such circumstances would cause harm to living beings.' ॥ 3-96-6 ॥

english translation

tata Ayavyayau dRSTvA samau samamatira davijaH sarvathA parANinAM pIDAma upAdAnAda amanyata ॥ 3-96-6 ॥

स शरुतर्वाणम आदाय वध्र्य अश्वम अगमत ततः स च तौ विषयस्यान्ते परत्यगृह्णाद यथाविधि ॥ ३-९६-७ ॥

'Thus, taking Shrutarva with him, the Rishi went to Vradhnaswa. Upon hearing of their arrival at his borders, the king received them with proper honor.' ॥ 3-96-7 ॥

sa zarutarvANama AdAya vadhrya azvama agamata tataH sa ca tau viSayasyAnte paratyagRhNAda yathAvidhi ॥ 3-96-7 ॥

तयॊर अर्घ्यं च पाद्यं च वध्र्यश्वः परत्यवेदयत अनुज्ञाप्य च पप्रच्छ परयॊजनम उपक्रमे ॥ ३-९६-८ ॥

'Vradhnaswa also presented them with Arghya and water to wash their feet. After obtaining their permission, the king respectfully inquired about the purpose of their visit.' ॥ 3-96-8 ॥

tayòra arghyaM ca pAdyaM ca vadhryazvaH paratyavedayata anujJApya ca papraccha parayòjanama upakrame ॥ 3-96-8 ॥

[अ] वित्तकामाव इह पराप्तौ विद्ध्य आवां पृथिवीपते यथाशक्त्य अविहिंस्यान्यान संविभागं परयच्छ नौ ॥ ३-९६-९ ॥

'Agastya said, 'O lord of the earth, understand that we have come to you seeking wealth. Bestow upon us what you can, without causing harm to others.'' ॥ 3-96-9 ॥

[लॊम] तत आयव्ययौ पूर्णौ ताभ्यां राजा नयवेदयत ततॊ जञात्वा समादत्तां यद अत्र वयतिरिच्यते ॥ ३-९६-१० ॥

'Lomasa continued, 'The king then explained to them the balance of his income and expenditure, saying, 'With this understanding, take whatever you desire.'' ॥ 3-96-10 ॥
