वेदज्ञौ वेद विदितौ दिव्या वेदविदाव उभौ यजन्तौ करतुभिर नित्यं पुण्यैर भरतसत्तम ।। ३-८८-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Here too, O lord of men, the illustrious Etavarna and Avavarana, well-versed in the Vedas and skilled in Vedic knowledge and rites, performed their meritorious sacrifices, O chief of the Bharata lineage!' ।। 3-88-11 ।।

english translation

vedajJau veda viditau divyA vedavidAva ubhau yajantau karatubhira nityaM puNyaira bharatasattama || 3-88-11 ||

समेत्य बहुशॊ देवाः सेन्द्राः स वरुणाः पुरा विशाख यूपे ऽतप्यन्त तस्मात पुण्यतमः स वै ।। ३-८८-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'There also lies Visakhayupa, where, in ancient times, the gods, along with Varuna and Indra, practiced ascetic austerities.' ।। 3-88-12 ।।

english translation

sametya bahuzò devAH sendrAH sa varuNAH purA vizAkha yUpe 'tapyanta tasmAta puNyatamaH sa vai || 3-88-12 ||

ऋषिर महान महाभागॊ जमदग्निर महायशाः पलाशकेषु पुण्येषु रम्येष्व अयजताभिभूः ।। ३-८८-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'And that is why this place is considered so profoundly sacred. Here also lies Palasaka, where the great and illustrious sage Jamadagni, blessed with exceptional fortune, performed his sacrifices.' ।। 3-88-13 ।।

english translation

RSira mahAna mahAbhAgò jamadagnira mahAyazAH palAzakeSu puNyeSu ramyeSva ayajatAbhibhUH || 3-88-13 ||

यत्र सर्वाः सरिच्छ्रेष्ठाः साक्षात तम ऋषिसत्तमम सवं सवं तॊयम उपादाय परिवार्यॊपतस्थिरे ।। ३-८८-१४ ।।

'There, all the principal rivers, in their embodied forms, gathered around that foremost of sages, each taking their respective waters.' ।। 3-88-14 ।।

'And there, O monarch, Vibhavasu (the fire) himself, witnessing the initiation of that high-souled one, recited the following verse.' ।। 3-88-15 ।।
